According to the Indonesian Ministry of Trade, the spices and herb exports are valued at USD 500 million per year. Indonesia is also known to be the world’s second largest pepper producer in the world. Not only on food, but herbs being used for traditional medicine has a positive prospect in Indonesia too. Some of the biggest pharmaceutical companies have muscled their way into what was only a small-scale industry.
